Beyond the Classroom
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
An Experiential Learning Journey Through Nepal's Landscapes, Cultures & Communities
Some of the most meaningful lessons are learned far beyond the classroom.
For nearly four decades, Snow Leopard Trek has partnered with leading international schools and universities to create educational expeditions that combine cultural immersion, outdoor adventure, environmental stewardship, and personal growth. Trusted by institutions including the American International School of Chennai, American International School Vienna, British Grammar School Dhahran, American School Foundation of Monterrey, Saint Cloud State University, and Lincoln School Kathmandu, our programmes are thoughtfully designed to complement academic learning while inspiring leadership, resilience, and global citizenship.
Every expedition is carefully curated around each school's learning objectives and supported by experienced guides trained in wilderness first aid, mountain safety, and responsible tourism. From logistics and accommodation to nutritious meals and student wellbeing, every detail is managed with the highest standards of care, allowing teachers and students alike to focus on the journey.
More than an educational tour, this is an invitation to experience Nepal through discovery, meaningful human connection, and learning that lasts long after the journey ends.
Trip Highlights
Kathmandu Valley
History, Culture & Living Heritage
The journey begins in the Kathmandu Valley, where ancient temples, royal palaces, and Buddhist stupas tell the story of one of Asia's oldest living civilizations. Visits to Swayambhunath, Patan Durbar Square, and Boudhanath introduce students to Nepal's remarkable religious harmony, architecture, and artistic traditions while offering opportunities to engage with local artisans and communities.
Trishuli River
Leadership Through Adventure
Working together to navigate the rapids of the Trishuli River, students build confidence, communication, and teamwork in an exciting outdoor environment. Beyond the adventure, rafting encourages resilience, trust, and respect for Nepal's natural landscapes.
Chitwan National Park
Conservation in Action
Descending into Nepal's subtropical lowlands, students explore one of Asia's richest wildlife habitats and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided safaris, canoe excursions, and nature walks provide first-hand insight into biodiversity, conservation, and the delicate relationship between local communities and the natural world. Encounters with the indigenous Tharu people further deepen students' understanding of sustainable living and cultural heritage.
Annapurna Region
Walking Through the Himalayas
Following historic mountain trails to Ghorepani, students experience life in traditional Himalayan villages while developing perseverance, teamwork, and an appreciation for Nepal's mountain cultures. A sunrise hike to Poon Hill rewards the journey with sweeping views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
As part of the programme, students visit the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), where they explore sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, waste management, reforestation, and the vital role local communities play in protecting one of the world's most celebrated mountain environments.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Throughout the journey, students are encouraged to develop:
Leadership, teamwork, and resilience
Cultural understanding and global citizenship
Environmental awareness and responsible travel
Confidence through experiential learning
A deeper appreciation of Nepal's history, geography, biodiversity, and communities
Every experience is designed to encourage curiosity, meaningful engagement, and personal growth—creating memories that endure long after the journey has ended.
