Ghandruk to Lwang Trek area, north of Pokhara offers some of the most dramatic close-up views of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the world.

The abrupt variation in altitude found during this trek is astonishing. From the Pokhara airstrip (819 m) the summit of Machhapuchare (6997 m.) is less than 30 km.  Ghandruk area is home to the Magars and Gurungs (backbone of the famous Gorkha regiments).

This trek passes through rhododendron and mixed forests alive with ferns and birds, through  villages  with their spectacular Himalayan backdrops leads to Ghandruk 1951 m. The trek makes a small circuit and visits Ghandruk, Kotdanda, Jhinu danda, Deorali and Lwang and finally ends in Pokhara.

Snow Leopard Trek welcomes you to experience the biggest festival in Nepal, Dashain. We will take you to both the local and remote areas of Nepal to celebrate the festival with local people and create an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Snow Leopard Trek is offering our discounted prices, eligible only for Expats residents in Kathmandu, without compromising on the quality of our services. Like always, Snow Leopard will be using our quality partner hotel  and lodges along the trail and the menu will be based on an Ala-carte basis.  Also, please note that all our guides have been with Snow Leopard Trek for more than 2 decades and have received professional training on mountain guiding and  eco-trekking  from the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management  (NATHAM ) the only  government run  tourism training institute.  Hence, the issue of quality of service or trust will not arise.

(English) Day 01: Kathmandu to Pokhara by flight.  Drive to Pipal Danda.  Trek to Ghandruk (1951 m.)

25 minutes flight to Pokhara.  At Pokhara airport, you will be met by our trekking guide.  From the Pokhara airport we take a jeep to Pipal Danda. From Pipal Danda we walk ascending up to Ghandruk about 1 hour.  Ghandruk village is one of the biggest Gurung villages in this area which is really impressive and you can easily explore the traditional houses, Gurung Museum, the ethnic costumes’ and the life style of the Gurungs.

The path to lower Ghandruk winds along rivers (Modi Khola and Bhurungdi Khola) and mountain farms.  On a day of nice weather we can have  a great view of  Fishtail, Annapurna mountains and views of  waterfalls en route is very scenic.  Drive for about 2 hrs to Pipal Danda from Pokhara.  From Pipal Danda we walk some uphill sections it shouldn’t be a problem. Pipal Danda (1784 m.) and Ghandruk (1951 m.) so you have less than 170 meters to climb.  Overnight at hotel in Ghandruk.

Day 02:  Trek to Kotdanda (2350 m)

From Ghandruk to Kot Danda we climb up for around one and half hour  to Kumrung danda. From Kumrung Danda to Kot Danda  we gradually ascend through a jungle on the ridge.  On the way, we can enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre) and Ganggapurna.  This is little Paradise – a true little paradise among the mountainous scenery where you can relax and enjoy peace, quiet and  rural atmosphere for the rest of the day. Overnight  at Kotdanda.

Day 03:  Trek to Jhinu Danda (1750 m)

Today’s trek follows a very nice walk through terraced fields – some of which were lying fallow, others green with mustard. The trek through cultivated land is certainly a very different experience compared to the earlier days of valleys, forests and hills.

A good portion of this day is spent in the hot  springs – about 30 minutes down-hill walk. The Jhinu Hot Spring is an attraction where you can easily spend your afternoon on Hot Pool. It is supposed to relieve pain and tiredness after the trek.

The set-up of the springs is fairly rudimentary – a metal shack served as the entrance and changing rooms. The water is very hot, but the prospect of enjoying bathing in an unending supply of warm water is very welcome. After bathing in the hot springs (believed by Nepalese to be very therapeutic and having high medical value) walk back to our lodge at Jhinu Danda.

Day 04:  Trek to Deurali (2100 m)

The first part of the trek is down hill,  then  through flat land until you reach Himal Pani. Here you find beautiful waterfall. Beyond this town the trail ascends gently crossing numerous streams and terraces. After a  short trek  you will be at Landruk (1545 m), a pretty big village inhabited by mixed communities of Gurungs, Magars and Brahmins. Now the trail gently ascends to Tolka (1850 m.) , then  Bherikharka. From here, the trail goes steeply up to Deorali (2100m.) with a view of different mountain peaks in panorama.

Day 05:  Trek to Lwang (1550 m.)

The trail gradually descends through  forests and  tea gardens just before reaching Lwang which you will really  enjoy .  Overnight at Home stay.

Day 06:  Drive from Lwang to Pokhara by private jeep.

After breakfast we take our private reserved jeep to Pokhara which is about 1 and half hour drive.  Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara.
