Langtang region with its easy accessibility and Breath-taking mountain scenery is one of the most popular yet least trekked destinations in Nepal. To the west of Langtang is the Ganesh Himal mountain with a range of 6,000 to 7,000 meters. The northern parts of the area largely fall within the boundaries of Langtang National Park which encompasses the catchment areas of two major Nepalese river systems (Trisuli and Sun Kosi) and figures prominently in the migration route of birds flying across the Himalaya during spring and fall. Starting from sub-tropical forests (below 1000 m) to alpine scrubs and bushes to desolate high desert fields of rock and snow this valley was once introduced as "The most beautiful in the world" by the British Mountaineer and explorer H. W. Tilman and has been famous ever since. These variations in altitude and topography, along with the forest-covered area provide the natural habitat for a wide cross section of wildlife. The variations in altitude also means that this area is home to many cultures from lowland Brahmins and Chettris, middle hill tribe Tamangs and Highland Sherpa and Bhotias each with their own distinctive culture and religion.
Thus a trek to the Langtang Valley offers an opportunity to explore ethnic villages, climb small peaks and visit glaciers at comfortably low elevations.
The Langtang valley is also aptly called "the valley of glaciers". Here, mountains rise soaring towards the sky. The valley offers pine forests, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow- capped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primulas. In the upper part of the valley there are snow ridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lakes of crystalline brightness and glaciated mountain giants.
