Ghorepani/Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani/Poon Hill Trek

Overview

Ghorepani, located north of Pokhara, offers some of the most dramatic close-up views of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the world. From the Pokhara airstrip (850 m) the summit of Machhapuchare (6997 m) is less than 30 km away.

Poon Hill trek is a short and relatively easy trek into the Annapurna region. This trek is suitable for those who do not have much time to spend with a burning desire to observe the beauty of snow-capped mountains. Nepal Hidden Treks and Expedition organize this trek in 3 or 4 0r 5 days from Pokhara.

This area is home to the Magars and Gurungs, forming the backbone of the famous Gorkha regiments. The trek passes through rhododendron and mixed forests alive with ferns and birds, through spectacular villages of the Gorkha soldiers, and spectacular Himalayan backdrops leading to Ghorepani 2834 m. The following morning visit Poon Hill at 3210 m – a vantage point to view the Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and the Annapurna massif. The trek makes a small circuit and visits Tadapani (2450 m), Ghandrung, Nayapul and finally ends in Pokhara.

Note: Our itinerary is flexible and can be customized according to your interests and schedule.
