Around Dhaulagiri

Around Dhaulagiri

Overview

At 8167 meters, Dhaulagiri holds the title of the world’s seventh highest peak, rising majestically in isolation above the deep cliffs of the Kali Gandaki valley.

Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek follows glaciers and crosses high snow-capped passes, a challenge appropriate only for physically fit individuals and groups wishing to experience a remote and challenging trek in the Himalayas. Dhaulagiri towers high above the well-trekked Muktinath pilgrim trail up the Kali Gandaki Valley, taking you to the heart of the Annapura region. This trek offers beautiful Himalayan views of Mount Dhaulagiri 8167m, Mt. Manaslu 8163m, and Mt. Annapurna 8091m, along with other 23 snowy peaks, lush valleys, and the pilgrimage Jomsom Muktinath trail. As opposed to many other Himalayan treks that utilize teahouses and lodges, the Dhaulagiri trek is a camping only trek. The route you folllow on this trek takes you through two passes- French pass (5360m) and Dhampus pass (5234m).Trekking Dhaulagiri base camp is an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience with vast massifs and the hidden lands of Dolpo to its north, and Nepal’s far western hills to the west. This trek is perfect for those who love nature, spectacular mountain views, and physically strenuous activities.

The trek begins at Beni, about 3-4 hours drive from Pokhara. A professional trekking guide will lead the way through the beautiful villages of Darbang, Muri, Chariban, Itialian base camp, Dhaulagiri base camp , French pass, Dhumpus pass and finally reach the Marpha assemble of  the Annapurna circuit trekking trail Due to the difficulty of this trek, clients are required to have high levels of physical fitness and experience with high altitude trekking. The best times to complete this trek are during the months of March, April, September, October, and November.
