Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Overview

There are few treks that combine so many different landscapes and bring you so close to the base of 7,000 and 8,000 m high peaks in a such a short period of time as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a classic trek into the heart of the impressive Annapurna Himalayas with unsurpassed views surrounded by enormous glaciers, along with an exceptional culture experience of the modern hill life of west Nepal. Even in a country whose horizons overflow with crystalline Himalayan ranges, trekkers consider the intense beauty of the Annapurna Sanctuary (Annapurna base camp) with a unique reverence.

The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region.  The trail goes alongside terraced rice paddies, lush rhododendron forests, and high altitude landscapes, with the Annapurna Range in view most of the times.

The Annapurna Sanctuary (also known as Annapurna Base Camp) forms a natural amphitheater, ringed by peaks which offers a 360-degree panorama of Annapurna South and Annapurna I, Varahashikhar, Gangapurna and Machhapuchhare  (or “Fish Tail”, as it is commonly known).  The trek starts in Pokhara then heads north along the traditional trade route towards the terraced fields via Birethanhti and Saulee Bazaar to Ghandrung. From here, the trek contours eastward through thick rhododendron and oak forest to Chhomrong to follow the Modi river valley, through thick bamboo and rhododendron forests into the Sanctuary itself.  The return is via a slightly different route through the villages of Jhinu Danda, Pothana and via Phedi to finish in Pokhara.

Note: Our itinerary is flexible and can be customized according to your interests and schedule.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also offered as an extended, easier route as Annapurna Base Camp Trek (Easy walking).
