Langtang – Gosaikunda – Helambu Trek

Langtang – Gosaikunda – Helambu Trek

Overview

Langtang trek is a combination of two beautiful treks (Gosaikunda and Helambu) which will introduce you to some of Nepal’s wildest and most picturesque areas.

The Langtang trek is a moderate trek in terms of the required rigor and starts from the Syabrubensi. Our trek winds through beautiful rhododendron and conifer forests through the Langtang National Park on the way to the Kyanjen Gompa. Our route then leads up to the high alpine yak pastures, glaciers and moraines around Kyanjin. Next, the trek takes a detour. Another special feature of this trek is the sacred Hindu lake Gosainkund (4380 m.) which crosses into Laurebina Pass (4610 m) further to Dhunche. Along this route you will have an opportunity to experience the whole range of Himalayan topography as the trail heads south through a lush green valley before returning to Kathmandu.

Often overlooked, the Langtang, Gosaikunda and Helambu region to the north of Kathmandu provides some of Nepal’s most spectacular scenery, and trekking in this area is as good as anywhere in Nepal. The soaring, snow-capped mountains at the head of the Langtang valley, the beautiful glacial lakes at Gosainkunda and the friendly Tamang villages combine to make this a perfect alternative to the better known Everest and Annapurnas treks.
