Kathmandu- Langtang (10 days): An interesting 200km drive from Kathmandu takes us to Dhunche to the north of Kathmandu. The trek begins at Dhunche. This trails leads us through forests of pine and rhododendron through the rich greenery of yak pastures for which the area is famous. We reach the Tibetan hamlet of Ghoda Tabela and proceed towards the Langtang valley at an altitude of 3,000m. This valley is surrounded by many peaks and glaciers and is dominated by Spectacular Mountain and glacial scenery. Langtang National Park (1243) sq. km. is also an alpine valley and the home of the musk deer and the snow leopard. The return journey descends through the same route to Dhuche. This is a spectacular trek starting after a 117 km drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche for about 8 hours. The highlights of the Langtang trek are beautiful views of Langtang and Dorje Lhakpa Himals along with close views of Purba Gychu and Gosainkund Himal. The route passes through thick rhododendron forests and there are good mountain views of the Langtang-Lirung peaks. The Langtang area is a bird watcher's and naturalist's paradise. The intrepid explorer, Tilman, described the Langtang area as "one of the world's most beautiful valleys." This region, seen in the distance from the Kathmandu Basin, allows one to explore many Himalayan vistas in a short time. The course abounds in variety and one may enjoy native customs as well. 2. Langtang Gosaikunda Pass Helambu (15 days): This trek begins at Dhunche. It is similar to the Langtang valley trek except that return takes a different route passing through an entirely different valley. We trek down to Shebru from the Langtang valley. The trail affords excellent views of Ganesh Himal. The route then deviates and we reach the Hindu holy lakes at Gosaikunda, a famous pilgrimage site. Here we have superb views of the central and eastern Himalayan peaks. The trail proceeds to the Thare Pati pass, and then drops down to the picturesque Sherpa village of Helambu.
